Why I Love Art
If you know anything about me, you'd know that I love God and I love art. My passion is capturing the mind of our Creator through different aspects of himself He displays throughout His creation. Art gives us a unique glimpse into the mind of the Creator. He is the ultimate artist, and through our work as artists, and through our act of creating a beautiful work, we seek to be like Him and can draw closer to Him.
I enjoy oil painting the most because it’s more forgiving than many other painting mediums. You can form and change your image until it looks exactly how you want it to. I think this concept is a beautiful parallel to how God forms and shapes his creation, similarly to several verses in the Bible that talk about pottery. For example, Isaiah 64:8 says,
"But now, O Lord,
You are our Father;
We are the clay, and You our potter;
And all we are the work of Your hand"
This verse and many others have given me so much hope over the years, that God is in control over my life, and that no matter how many times I fall short, He continues to mold me and shape me, just as a potter shapes his clay or a painter forms an image on a canvas. God is so good to me. I hope that through my work you will gain a new perspective of the created universe around you and inspire you to take a look into the mind of God throughout your day-to-day routine.
My work
These pieces on display right now are from my senior art show from my final year at Liberty University. I did a collection of animal paintings that each represent a different way that God displays his personality and character through his creatures. I hope you enjoy!
